teamLab, Abu Dhabi

We delivered the venue-wide Medialon show control system for teamLab Abu Dhabi, providing a unified control layer across one of the world’s most technically complex immersive environments.

The system forms the operational backbone of the installation, coordinating projection, audio, and system-wide behaviours to ensure each space responds in real time, exactly as intended by the creative vision.

In environments where content, space, and audience interaction are tightly interwoven, reliable delivery at scale requires more than playback. It demands deterministic, low-latency system control, robust coordination across hundreds of endpoints, continuous monitoring, and seamless integration with life safety and building systems.

We engineered and commissioned a centralised Medialon control architecture responsible for managing and safeguarding the experience across all zones.

A large-scale digital art environment powered by complex backend infrastructure. The installation synchronises multi-sensory audio and high-resolution projections to create an expansive, responsive technical landscape.
A dense digital light field composed of hanging LED strands. The installation utilises complex control systems to manage thousands of individual light points, creating a multi-coloured crystalline environment.
High-resolution interactive digital display featuring abstract, vibrant landscapes. The system processes real-time data to react to visitor interaction, showcasing responsive playback architecture.
Expansive botanical projections covering floors and walls in a darkened space. High-density visual data creates a detailed, glowing environment of shifting floral patterns.
Dynamic light paths projected onto a shallow pool, demonstrating frame-accurate synchronisation. The swirling patterns of light react to the physical space, creating a fluid, high-impact visual experience.

Our contributions included:

  • Venue-wide show control through a central Medialon platform coordinating AV and BMS systems.
  • Zonal control and monitoring layers that allow operators to monitor, isolate, and manage individual areas without impacting the wider system.
  • System health and diagnostics, including real-time monitoring of critical BMS devices to support proactive fault detection and rapid recovery.
  • Life safety integration with emergency stop systems and fire alarms, ensuring safe system shutdown and compliant response under all conditions.
  • An operational control framework designed for continuous daily operation, simplifying complex system behaviour into clear, manageable workflows.

This created a stable, resilient control ecosystem that allows teamLab’s highly complex environments to operate seamlessly at scale.

For on-site teams, it provides reliable, repeatable daily operation, fast recovery from faults or interruptions, clear operational control, and full alignment with safety and compliance requirements. For the experience itself, it remains the invisible layer that keeps the environment fluid, responsive, and uninterrupted.
